Game rules

Oh So Fluffy is a game of fluff and fuss. It can be played by 2-5 players.

Setup

  • Shuffle the draw pile and and hand out 5 cards to each player face down.
  • Each player choose to play any number of table cards from their hand. Note that no instant cards can be played – because the game has not started yet – but you still need to consider text like “clap your hands” on the table cards.
  • Choose a player to go first through duel or other preferred method. The game then continues clockwise unless a card says otherwise.

Objective

The objective of Oh So Fluffy is to build collections of table cards and while doing so also preventing the opponents from doing exactly the same thing by being mean, persuasive or just by pure luck. 

First player to achieve a collection with 5 table cards of the same kind wins.

Gameplay

A turn in Oh So Fluffy usually consists of three phases. Cards however, sometimes have the power to add both complete extra turns and other fluffy things to mess with this nice order. Usually all this is pretty straight forward and explained in a cute way on the cards themselves. Sometimes when playing Oh So Fluffy some additional explanations and clarifications can come in handy to prevent serious scuffles. At the end of this rule sheet you find a few life savers for extraordinary situations that might occur. You also find an FAQ with the latest updates on ohsofluffy.com

If you have 3 or more table cards in a collection all opponents (that is everyone BUT you) will gain benefits during their turn. Each table card has it’s own effect which can be used once during an opponents turn. Observe that an effect might have to be used at a specific phase though.  

Oh So Fluffy consists of three different kinds of cards. Table cards and Action Cards can only be played during your turn. Instants can be played during any player’s turn when applicable.

Phases

The three phases of Oh So Fluffy played in this order:

  1. DRAW PHASE: Take one card from the draw pile and add to your hand
  2. ALTER THE TABLE: Choose between:
    • Play a table card from hand and add it to an already existing collection or start a new one.
    • Turn over 1 of your own table cards. You can hide or reveal a card this way. When a card is hidden (turned upside down) it’s not considered part of a collection.
    • Do nothing. Either because you can’t, or you do not want to.
  3. ACTIONS: Play 1 action card (unless a card says otherwise)
    • When an action card has been played it’s no longer possible to play a table card and the turn is immediately over after the last action card has been played, even if not with a successful result.
    • If you do not to play an action card, instead draw 1 card from the draw pile. This ends your turn

How to win

First player to reach 5 identical table cards in a collection wins the game. This happens immediately IF NOT stopped by an instant card.

Additional Explanations

  • Text on cards always have priority over standard rules
  • Table card effects which activates if there are 3 or more cards in a collection states “may” and has to be used at the correct play phase. The effects are not “played” and can not be stopped. But if you forgot them – then you lost them 😄
  • An upside down card loses all effects including its name until it’s turned over again. It’s still a table card and can be targeted like any other table card.
  • Your hand is always your hand even if someone has taken control over your cards.
  • Reshuffling – If the draw pile runs out, shuffle the discard pile and it becomes the new draw pile
  • When you are told to discard a card it always means that you put it on the discard pile. A card be discarded both from your hand and from your table cards in front of you depending on the situation and what you actually are being told to do.

If there is no table card in the discard pile your card is still considered used

Seize that fluffy card

If you seize the card “Again! Again! Again!” you will receive an extra turn after the current one. After you have played your turn the game goes back to where it previously was and next players turn.

Again! Again! Again!

The card says “Take another turn after this one”. This means that playing two or more “Again! Again! Again!” will still only give you one extra turn.
If you play this card with another players hand during “Impersonation” you will play your extra turn with your own hand.

Impersonation

You play the extra turn immediately and continue your own turn (if you have anything left you can do) after that turn has ended.
If you play Impersonation you can not play cards from your own hand until the effect of Impersonation has ended.
Even if you play “Impersonation” and take over another players hand, effects targeting your hand or your cards still target your own cards and not the ones you temporarily have control over through Impersonation.

Fluffy… thing

This table card becomes the type of choice when played, and will remain that type even if it’s turned upside down and back again or it’s stolen by another player.
